Alice Blue Dream Cream

Beads are life. They are not going anywhere. They are most definitely a life long obsession, profession, source of joy and happiness. But there are other exciting things in life too.

One of them is making skincare products. For about 5 years now, I have been making some of my own skincare items. The initial experimentations were sometimes successful, sometimes not so much. Time and practice helps. Reading about the subject helped too.

It was about three months ago that it occurred to me that perhaps I could offer some of these creations for sale. When I added some as a lagniappe with my Christmas orders, people seemed happy. That encouraged me and I went down a rabbit hole of potion making.

They have been selling well enough, but there is a limitation to what one can say about them on Etsy. Not that I am going to make any medical claims regarding growing back missing limbs, hair, performing exorcisms and making anyone shed decades, but one can not even make any claims about what potential benefits  all the ingredients may have. Or- your listing gets taken down and if you keep at it, your store might be closed down.

I get where they are coming from but at the moment I am not in a position to manifest an e-commerce website of my own, so I am going to comply with their requirements and only say what I have to say about the products here, on my blog.

So as time goes on, I will keep on adding pictures, descriptions and then linking the Etsy listings to here for information.

The first product I want to talk about it the Alice Blue Dream Cream.

This product is not exactly a cream. It's a light balm. A tiny bit of it can be warmed in one's palm and gently massaged on to the face in  an upward motion. It really only takes a very little and the one ounce in the jar goes a long way.

It has wonderful anti aging, deeply moisturizing, healing, brightening, anti oxidant rich, anti inflammatory, collagen production stimulating ingredients. There is not a single thing in here that is not a functional ingredient, nothing that is not good for sensitive skin either.

The scent is herbaceous, non invasive and only due to the highest quality essential oils which are included for their healing benefits. All the ingredients are non comedogenic, meaning this will not clog your pores, in fact if you do have issues with skin irritation and even acne, you might find that this balm/cream will help you. It may also help with redness, rosacea,  and it may help reducing the appearance of wrinkles.

Now, Friend. This ain't no plastic surgery in a tub and I am not a doctor. But, neither was Dr Bronner and I still use his soap every day while I ponder his never ending wise words.

Most skincare products are advertised by beautiful people in their earliest twenties who are soon to be too young to be my kids even. They don't NEED to do anything to look the way they do, and nothing you can buy will make you look like them.

As I enter my joyful perimenopausal years here and contemplate concepts like all pretty kitties has primordial pouches, I come to terms with aging. This fucking leopard earned all its spots. There is nothing I can do about not looking 20 anymore, and there is no potion I can sell you that will do that for you either.

But let's not just throw in the towel. The world is more of a dumpster fire than anytime before, and we need to still care for ourselves. Surround ourselves with good people. Be good people. Be good to good people. Put nourishing things in and on our body.

I most definitely don't want to spend hundreds of bucks on skin care products. If you look up blue creams using very similar ingredients to this, you will find that unlike the $65 this costs, mosts are quite a bit more than twice this much.

My Alice Blue Dream Cream is not cheap. Because the ingredients in it are pricey, plus I like to make a living on things I do, and you are paying for that when buying my goodies. But, it's also not nearly as expensive as similar products are.

Let's go through the ingredients. Each is a link taking you to some search results that come up about the benefits of this particular ingredient.

  1. Prickly Pear Oil
  2. Mango Butter
  3. Blackcurrant Oil
  4. Murumuru Butter
  5. Beeswax
  6. Tamanu Oil
  7. Pomegranate Oil
  8. Kukui Nut Oil
  9. Passion Fruit Oil
  10. Blue Tansy
  11. Frankincense
  12. Sea Fennel
  13. Clary Sage
So you see, every single thing here serves a purpose, and non are harmful. The finished product is luxurious feeling, last a long time, and depending on your skin, you can put it on day or night. I have fairly oily skin and in sticky Michigan, unlike in dry Colorado, this might be too much for me for the day in the summer. Will still use it in the winter though.
The product has beeswax in it for two reasons: similar creams without it turn into a puddle of mess and then crystalize into grainy clumps as they cool down. The beeswax stabilizes this minimally. There is only a little in it though, because I don't want to use it as a filler. A little is good for your skin, a lot would be; well. Waxy. Live in hot climates? Stick it in the fridge. Not because it goes bad, but the texture is better, plus putting cold stuff on your face helps with puffiness.
I'd say it would be good to use this within a year of opening.

Well, thank you for reading! Hope you enjoy the goodies. Here is a link to Etsy where you can buy the cream:
