Hag Oil!

In the spirit of slowly but surely adding all my new skincare items to my Etsy store, Hag Oil is the next product I would like to tell you all about here.

The Alice Blue Dream Cream was my first featured product and besides the description, the blog post also gives you all the ingredients with link to descriptions of what they are good for. I want to follow the same pattern here, start with a description of the how, why and such and then discuss the what's in it part too.

Hag Oil sounds like fun. The name is in line with my philosophy of owning aging: there is nothing I can do to my 45 year old skin to make it look 20. Some days are haggy indeed. Gloriously, unapologetically, cacklingly, victoriously haggy. Hags can be serene, well nourished, well loved and moisturized though.

It seems like the older we get the more immediate the price we pay in the way we look. Stayed up too late? Had too much coffee? Had a margarita? Did not drink enough water? Bam! Like Dorian Gray's picture, the sins are instantly inscribed onto our precious visage. Using some no nonsense, all natural and in this case all unheated oil potion will not undo all bad habits, but it can be ever so helpful maintaining healthy skin.

All my skincare goodies are gentle, all natural, cocoon like. Nourishing, just a sweet, good thing; a gentle act of self care. In the case of the hag oil, this is light enough to use in the morning. If you have oily skin, you might use it during the night instead. My skin is on the oilier side but at least in the cold months when it's so dry indoors, I like to use this in the morning.

It absorbs quick, and you only need a couple drops. I would avoid the area directly around the eyes, but massage it in anywhere else, including the neck too. It is deeply moisturizing, high in antioxidants, it's soothing and revitalizing. It smells green and lush and herbaceous.

In case you are reading this post comparing Hag Oil to any of the other skincare items I am making and you are not sure which one is right for you, look at the ingredients and do a little research and see which product has the ingredients that do most for your skin.

Let's look at those ingredients:

  1. Elderberry seed oil
  2. Sweet almond oil
  3. Blueberry oil
  4. Sea Buckthorn oil
  5. Elemi Essential Oil
  6. Artemisia Essential Oil
  7. Hinoki Essential Oil
  8. Ciste Labdanum
I strongly encourage anyone considering the use of any of my products to do their own research and above all, know yourself. Allergic to almonds? Make sure you pick a product without almond oil. Not sure if any of the ingredients will have an effect on your medication? Ask your doctor. Because I am not one.

All I can promise you in all my skincare products is the same values I promise with my bead embroidery/art/teaching career: attention to detail, good customer service and the use of the highest quality materials money can buy. My experience only comes from my own experimentations for years, no formal training. A whole lot of  reading, mixing, potion making, giving stuff away and testing it myself.   I will always stand by what I make and will try to do right by all my customers.
